3 Part Corrosion Protection Kit

Priced per Set (3 Cans)
Core Stock Product

  • Instructions

Our 3 Part Corrosion Protection Kit helps protect hardware such as Mortice Locks and Latches, Multipoint Door Locks and Window Espagnolette Bolts when being fitted to acidic timbers or in coastal environments.

  • CPK1 is a PTFE dry spray grease which penetrates the moving parts to protect and lubricate (500ml).
  • CPK2 is a non-flammable cleaner spray that flushes dirt, grease and oil from the hardware surface (480ml).
  • CPK3 is a fast-drying tough and durable acrylic lacquer to protect the hardware against mild acids, alkalis, salt spray and general weathering (400ml).

All three cans MUST be used for the system to work. Individual cans can be purchased via the links below.

Instructions for use:

  1. Treat all moving parts with CPK1 PTFE spray and allow it to set for approximately 10 minutes. For multipoint door locks and window espagnolette bolts, apply the spray along the full length of the moving rods so it penetrates between the rods and the back of the faceplate.
  2. Clean all external surfaces with CPK2 cleaner spray to remove dirt and excess grease before applying the acrylic lacquer.
  3. Apply two even coats of CPK3 acrylic lacquer to all surfaces. Pay particular attention to the edges of faceplates, especially on multipoint locks and window espagnolette bolts. Allow the final coat to cure before installation (approximately two hours).
  4. Install the item taking care not to scratch or damage the lacquer coating.

Operating tips:

  • Applying the PTFE spray between the moving rods and faceplate of multipoint locks and window espagnolettes ensures that there is adequate lubrication for all sliding surfaces. It also ensures that the lacquer does not ‘stick’ the sliding surfaces together.
  • An additional application of the PTFE spray to moving parts AFTER lacquering will provide added protection.
  • Strikeplates and keeps can be treated in the same way.

Additional requirements for acidic timbers (oak, Accoya etc):

  • Lock mortices and cut-outs should be fully sealed with an appropriate end grain sealer prior to the application of paint or varnish. For multipoint door locks and window espagnolette systems the complete length of the faceplate cut-out should be sealed.
