Probably one of the best locks of it's type ever made, the 3J60 is a High Security Horizontal Mortice Lock that has been a popular choice for domestic and industrial/commercial entrance doors for nearly a century. Particularly suitable for door knobs and ring handle furniture due to the long backset measurement and light sprung two-way action. Incorporating the famous Chubb 5 Detainer mechanism the lock has excellent protection against all common forms of attack including a positive throw solid brass deadbolt with hardened steel anti-saw rollers and hardened steel anti-drill plates. Originally bearing the Chubb name, it is now manufactured under the Union brand name. Produced in the same factory by the same people and using the same technology and parts, this lock remains "Chubb at Heart".
The long backset measurement allows fixing of door knobs away from the door edge which is a traditional feature on the mid rail of panelled doors. In addition, the light sprung, two-way action allows knobs to be operated with ease and in both directions.

For best results and long life, this lock should be lubricated with a light machine oil at least once a year.
