Antique Black Iron

A decorative pattern cast malleable iron Tee Hinge suitable for light weight doors up to 27" (690mm) wide and an ideal choice for narrow ledged and braced soft wood larder or pantry doors etc. Forming part of our "Black Ironmongery" collection this authentic T hinge is manufactured in Britain by Kirkpatrick Ltd using time honoured techniques that have remained unchanged since the mid 1800s and should not be confused with the poor quality imported copies from other suppliers.

Finished in hard wearing Antique Black Iron, this T Hinge is suitable for internal and external applications.

**NOTE: These hinges are sold and priced per single hinge**

Supplied complete with round-head slotted wood screws in matching finish.

Tee hinges are designed to be fitted to the opening face of doors with both the horizontal strap and vertical frame plate being visible when the door is in the closed position. As a rule of thumb, light to medium weight doors (soft wood, pine) will require hinges approx one third to half the door width. For heavier doors (eg solid oak) select a hinge one half to two thirds the door width. For doors over 84" (2100mm) high we recommend a third hinge fitted centrally.

To keep these hinges in optimum working condition we recommend a once yearly application of light machine oil (3 in 1) to the hinge knuckles. Check hinges occassionaly for dirt and grease and wipe clean with an oil impregnated cloth.
